The Federal President in Weimar's Post Office for Democracy
In 2019 not only the Bauhaus is celebrating its 100th anniversary, but also the Weimar Constitution. On 6th February 2019, Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and his wife Elke Büdenbender visited the "Post Office for Democracy" at the Parkschule Weimar to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Weimar Constitution. The Parkschule is one of the partner schools of the Weimar Bauhaus Agents and functioned as a provisional telegraph office for the National Assembly in the summer of 1919.

Class 9b of the Parkschule, together with the Bauhaus Agents and the European Educational Institute, developed the idea of sending democratic messages to the world again on the occasion of this constitutional anniversary. What concepts and visions of the future are important for democratic coexistence today? The young people collected their ideas in advance, made stamps to print on their messages, and set up their "Post Office for Democracy". During his visit, the young people invited the Federal President to design individual postcards using their stamps. Weimar Bauhaus agent Johannes Siebler reports: "The idea of the post office was enthusiastically received. So the Parkschule, as it did 100 years ago, again broadcast thought-provoking, democratic impulses to the world."
