Opening

"Versuchsstätte Bauhaus. The Collection" Opening Bauhaus Museum Dessau

After a festive ceremony, the Bauhaus Museum Dessau will open its doors to the public from 3 p.m. to midnight on 8th September 2019. Admission is free on this first day.

"Versuchsstätte Bauhaus. The Collection" – the title of the exhibition–tells the story of the Bauhaus School in Dessau. Among other things, the Dessau-based Bauhaus Agents have developed four hands-on stations for the museum, where visitors can become active themselves. In addition, in a separate exhibition area – the so-called "interlude" – projects by the Dessau partner schools on the subject of "Designing with Light" are being shown. A light apparatus invites visitors to try things out, and they can also listen to an audio play about Laszló Moholy-Nagy.

As "live speakers", eight pupils from the Gymnasium Philanthropinum will convey very personal exhibition impressions and perspectives on the Bauhaus and the museum. In the foyer, the Spielomat invites visitors to join in Bauhaus games. At the invitation of the Bauhaus Agents, the interactive media designers of Badaboom will make a special offer to opening-day guests: visitors can move through a colourful silhouette Bauhaus world as virtual reality. The young people from Dessau who have been documenting the museum's development process and their view of the Bauhaus in the documentary film workshop run by the Bauhaus Agents for two years, will also be on location and filming the event.
