Holger Groschopp

Pianist Holger Groschopp was born in Berlin and received his training at Berlin’s University of the Arts with Georg Sava. He also studied composition with Isang Yun and song interpretation with Aribert Reimann and Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau. His extensive concert work has taken him to most of Europe’s countries, as well as the Middle and Far East, and North and Central America. He has performed as soloist and chamber musician at the most important European festivals, been part of many world premières and début performances (Henze, Reimann, Yun, Rihm and others) and is a regular guest in recording studios. He has won numerous awards, at the Brahms Competition in Hamburg among others. He has long been closely associated as an ensemble pianist and chamber musician with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra and the German Symphony Orchestra. His six CDs released to date with the Capriccio label with transcripts and paraphrases by Ferruccio Busoni are highly acclaimed by expert international critics. Three more Busoni CDs are in the pipeline. Recordings with works by Isang Yun, John Adams, Ursula Mamlok and many others are also available.

He performed Mussorgsky’s “Pictures at an Exhibition” as part of the reconstruction of the Kandinsky stage version at numerous performances in Germany, France, Italy, Hungary and Israel.
