Free art studios in cooperation with “Weimarer Mal- und Zeichenschule” for school classes (5th - 13th grade) as well as during the summer holidays for families and individual visitors
During the time the exhibition Oskar Schlemmer – The Bauhaus and the path to modernity (Ducal Museum Gotha, 28 April to 28 July 2019) runs, hands-on art studio sessions are organised regularly in cooperation with “Weimarer Mal- und Zeichenschule” (Weimar’s painting and drawing school) for school classes and, during the summer holidays* for families and individual visitors.
After an introductory tour of the Schlemmer exhibition, participants enter the “glass workshop” in the souterrain of the Ducal Museum. They approach the ideas and the history of the Bauhaus aesthetically together with the visual artists Manon Grashorn (Weimar) and Karsten Kunert (Erfurt). Working with a range of materials affords them opportunities to heighten their appreciation of form and colour, and sharpen their sense of scale and proportion. The works produced then move into this space and confront the retrospective exhibition week after week with objects from our present time.
