Performance
An investigative performance project with pupils by choreographer Jo Parkes
Dance artist Jo Parkes collaborates with pupils from Bertolt Brecht school to create a performance investigating the relevance of the work and lives of the Bauhaus artists to this group of young people living in Berlin-Spandau a hundred years later.
The Bauhaus school was founded in troubled times: it embodied a search for a socially engaged creative practice in the aftermath of war. Can we learn something from the visions, lives and works of the artists involved for our own times? What - if anything - does individual and collective creativity have to do with the socio-political problems of our times?
Accompanied by composer/performer Mattef Kuhlmey, who will co-create a soundscore for the piece, the group will share the outcomes of their research.
