Porcelain and food share a symbiotic relationship in the Kunststiftung of Saxony-Anhalt in the exhibition called "Tasting Tomorrow".

Porcelain and food share a symbiotic relationship in the Kunststiftung of Saxony-Anhalt in the exhibition called "Tasting Tomorrow". The porcelain is a shaped space, a source of inspiration and a surrounding for the food. The food fills the porcelain with heat or coldness, color, smell, structure and not to forget, together they build the taste of the dish. Both trigger emotions equally and the passion for porcelain as well as for food are close together. An evidential fact, because vessel and food are one of the most constant companions of man and are fundamental components in the everyday life of each individual.

12 participants from the fields of design, art and crafts, who were selected by an international jury, examined the relation between haut cuisine, Bauhaus and porcelain in the summer of 2018 for one month in the halls of KAHLA/Thüringen GmbH. They tried to find answers regarding the question of the taste and the porcelain of the future.

Secret recipes have grown historically and have been handed down for generations. But an endgame is not in sight: The experiments for the best recipes won't decrease and the futurologist's eyes light up by playing with fire. The high art of designing and inventing generates adrenalin on highest levels. But where is the relation between crockery and food going? How does it look like? How does it taste like? The laboratory of the future "Tasting Tomorrow" is following the idea of the Bauhaus and is searching modernly-thinking for the connection between forms of preparing dishes and the matching crockery or vice versa.

The principle, according to which everything- learning, experimenting, inventing and working must be a unit, was the Bauhaus' program. Not only should one pay attention to the legendary parties in this context but also acknowledge the validity of the different forms of collective eating. To develop the idea of community is the center piece of "Tasting Tomorrow". Porcelain wasn't the only material the artists worked with, they also experimented with preparing food and cooked together. The works were created in a lively exchange between the participants. They materialized the results of discussions about the production of food, sensory perception, social cooperation and the delight of the future. Simulations took place on the actions concerning eating and social cooperation. What kind of objects, crockery or substrate will take over future functions and how could these look like? - These questions are still being researched and answered. Therefore, the scholarship holders of the Kunststiftung of Saxony-Anhalt, Annette Koutna and Antje Pesel, will show and develop ideas for the offering of a taste of tomorrow in the exhibition through cleverly devised workshops, together with the visitors.
