On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Bauhaus, the Gutenberg Museum in Mainz, the world museum of printing art, is highlighting the Bauhaus typography that has revolutionized graphic and communication design and still continues it's world wide influence to this day.
In a special exhibition of about six to seven thematic sections, the special exhibition "simply grotesque" shows the conditions and different phases of the development of "Bauhaus typography", as it was initially created in Weimar and especially between 1925 and 1932 at the new location in Dessau. Above all, the artistic quality and originality of the typographic design and works on display surprise and form a focal point of the exhibition, which documents the creative-design potential and the functional significance of grotesque type at the Bauhaus - and far beyond.
